Flickr and Picnik Together At Last! / Dec 4th

The Flickr/Picnik integration that everyone’s been eagerly waiting for is here! Now every Flickr member will see an Edit Photo in Picnik button button on their photo pages. Click that, and Picnik appears right inside Flickr!
Flickr Picnik flow
Both Picnik and Flickr teams have been tirelessly toiling to make this the best integration ever. Now, all Flickr members get seamless access to the editing power of Picnik without ever leaving Flickr, and Picnik users can edit their photo, get creative with it, and share it with the entire Flickr community, all in one place.

And as an added bonus, we’re launching Picnik for international users! That’s right, citizens of the world, the Flickr version of Picnik has been translated into seven languages, which will spread to the rest of Picnik.com as fast as we can program it in: Traditional Chinese, German, Spanish, French, Korean, Italian, and Portuguese, just like Flickr!
Picnik says Hi in 8 languages!
All of us on Team Picnik want to thank everyone on Team Flickr - George, Simon, Jude, Heather and John - for the hard work, the coding, the camaraderie, the conversation, the hospitality, and the late-night IM-ing that made these past few weeks possible. It’s been crazy, it’s been fun, we’re all really proud of how it’s come together, and we’re so excited we’re downright giddy. And now we’re going to get some sleep.

Happy Flickniking!

Flickr + Picnik = Awesome / Oct 19th

Yup, it’s true. Picnik has teamed up with Flickr to bring photo editing awesomeness to all Flickr users.

Both companies are working very hard to make this the tightest, smoothest integration possible. Whether you’re a Flickrite, Picniker, or both, you’ll feel right at home. We’re absolutely thrilled. And we think Flickr users will be, too.

We’ll post more as our collaboration with the Flickr team moves forward.

Busy Week! / Oct 11th

All of us are very heads-down this week on a wide variety of new things for Picnik.  For example (and in no particular order) Steve’s working on a couple very cool new effects that he demo’d for us the other day.  Plus he continues to improve and streamline the experience of editing photos from one of our many cool partners like Facebook, Flickr, Picasa and Photoworks.  Some new partners coming soon!

Mike is deep in the banking part of the e-commerce industry this week.  He is building the back end support for the subscription system… making it a solid experience so our Premium users can continue Picniking without a hitch.

Brian is working on very related stuff building and integrating the front-end aspects of the subscription system.  But also (spoiler alerts!) he is adding new fonts and shapes!  What I’ve seen over his shoulder is WAY cool… carrying some momentum from early design work Peter had laid out.

Jonathan and Monica have been connecting us with tons of reviews and write-ups… even a little TV action!  I’ll get a list together in the next few days for you to check out.

I won’t run down everyone today, you can see what I’m up to… especially if you’ve sent feedback lately. :)

BTW – did you know you can add Picnik as a Facebook application?  Do a search for “Picnik” on facebook, or just click this link.

Shouts to our Flickr and Facebook user groups!

Picasa Upgrade / Mar 22nd

Some of you Picasa Web users might notice that we’re making you reauthenticate. The reason for that is we have upgraded the security around logging into Picasa Web Albums. Now when you click on the “Authorize” button, you’ll get redirected to Google where you can authorize Picnik to access your Google Picasa Web Album data.

We’re also working on an updated user settings page that will allow you to clear your Picasa and Flickr information from your Picnik account. That will allow people with more than one Flickr or Picasa Web Album account to change which account Picnik is using.

Faster Uploads / Feb 15th

Brian has finished his new upload code and it’s out on the server. Uploads, especially from your computer, are now faster and more reliable. Please email us if you experience any upload weirdness.

Ignite Seattle! was awesome. If you missed this one, be sure to check out the next one. I think the next one will be in a couple of months. Check www.igniteseattle.com for details. I don’t know how many people were there, but I would say that it was in the hundreds (300+?). Lots of good talks (no slide can take longer then 15 seconds, no talk longer than 5 minutes), and the egg-a-pult was a thing of beauty. Check out the pictures at Flickr and check back at Ignite Seattle’s site later this week for more pictures and video.
