You’ve Twittered Your Picnik, Now Picnik Your Twitter! / Apr 20th

Those of you who use the microblogging sensation Twitter are probably already aware of twitter.com/picnik. From that chirpy perch, first Steve and now a whole flock of us watch every Twitter mentioning “Picnik” go by, and have built up a whole colony of happy Picnik users to follow. Those of you reading this blog post on the blog can see to your right the handy Twitter widget that keeps blog readers abreast of our past 5 tweets. And those of you who are looking at our Twitter page will notice that the most recent Tweet was posted from (be still your beating wings) Picnik!

That’s because the most recent addition to our covey of connections is Twitter! Now when you’ve completed Picniking, say, your photo of finches, you can Save & Share directly to your Twitter feed, while tweeting about it, all inside of Picnik! All this is possible thanks to our new partnership with Twitgoo, a media-sharing service created by Photobucket for posting pictures on Twitter.

But twittering isn’t all that you can do from inside of Picnik! You can also post your perfectly Picniked Profile Picture, or set it as your Twitter background! Happy Twittering!

Collaboration and Editing Are Our Middle Names! / Apr 13th

Two of the bestest startups in Seattle, Picnik and Wetpaint, have teamed up at last, bringing Picnik’s many photo powers into a seamless integration with Wetpaint! Picnik you know about, but in case you don’t know Wetpaint, they’re a wiki hosting and social networking service for regular people to collaborate online to create webpages about whatever interests them, with already over one million free wikis created. Picnik, too, is designed to give regular people photo-editing superpowers through simple but sophisticated editing tools and then save and share with friends, family, and the world, and doesn’t that sound like the point of a really good wiki? Now whenever you add a photo to your educational, lifestyle, or James Bond Wiki, you can click the Edit in Picnik link to add all of Picnik’s awesomeness to your Tudors fan photos, dogs pictures, or Daniel Craig’s DB9!

A Brief Update from the API Department / Nov 5th

We’ve been firing on all cylinders here at Picnik, with great new features and record numbers of users every week.  Lest it be forgotten in all the hubbub, our nifty little API is setting records too!  Every month we’re hitting a new all-time high for the number of photos going through our API.

Just recently we’ve seen Picnik pop up at sites like MailChimp and PopCarte, and our newest API partner is Open IT Online. Their tool is the leading Firefox extension to pull together several different online services to edit images and documents.  And with their latest update, you can now use Picnik to edit any picture you find on the web!  Here’s what Denis Remondini of Open IT Online has to say about the Picnik API:

We had already integrated other online image editors but we were pleasantly surprised to see how easy it was to integrate a powerful Flash based image editor such as Picnik: we just had to get the API key and then have our software open a new web page containing Picnik. That’s it!”

For those that haven’t heard about it before, the Picnik API is a service that lets you integrate the award-winning Picnik experience right into your own web site.  The Picnik API is quick and easy to use (and free!).  You can get instant access to the API and explore all the tutorials and samples at http://www.picnik.com/info/api.

All The Pretty Horses Are Now Even Prettier / Aug 1st

We got a great email today from the creators of EquiPortal (”Your Window On The Equine World“).  They were looking for a way to make it easier for their members to upload their photos, and found Picnik to be the perfect solution:

I have recently taken my first Picnik / Amazon S3 project live and just wanted to provide some feedback. I run a small company with limited resources so finding a feature rich product that was easy to integrate was a great find. I have created a blog about my integration exercise if you are interested: http://blog.contrastwebsolutions.co.uk/2008/08/using-picnik-and-amazon-s3-for-photo.html

If you would like a testimonial from the perspective of a small company feel free to take any text from my blog such as: “Picnik is a cool product, but it’s the way that it can be easily integrated in to our own websites that makes it great.”

Thanks for the service.
