Our Billionth Picture!
This is, according to our calculations, Picnik’s BILLIONTH edited photo:
It comes from Gísli Hjálmar, an Icelandic law student working as a technician and one of Flickr’s more prolific Picnikers. To celebrate, and to show him off a bit, we asked him a little bit about himself.
He became interested in photography when he was around 19, but then didn’t take pictures for nearly 20 years before starting up again three years ago.
Two years ago he discovered Picnik, and now does most of his photo editing with us (even though he has Photoshop on his computer). His favorite part of Picnik? The Seasonal Effects! How does he feel about his photo being Picnik’s billionth edited photo? He’s “very happy” and for good reason: Gísli now has a lifetime subscription to Picnik Premium!
Of all the thousands of photos being edited Wednesday morning, we’re so happy that the person with the billionth photo is such an interesting guy, an enthusiastic photographer and a good Picniker! It makes us think about all the millions of interesting people out there with their squillions of interesting pictures using Picnik all the time, and we can’t wait to see what the next billion brings. I’ve been trying to use Picnik so badly for the last 14 days and even the tech team hasn’t been able to help me!
I use Ubuntu as the OS and they said they cannot help further and they are testing it themselves !
Why this problems to ur dedicated users when we you are such a big company !! :(

I’m sorry, but this dude gets a LIFETIME SUBSCRIPTION? Just for editing a photo, when millions of Picnik users do it everyday? That’s unfair. I realize it’s the billonith photo ever editied, but a lifetime subscription seems cruel. This guy has only been using Picnik for 2 years now. What do the other, OLDER Picnik users get? Absolutely nothing!

hey, you should be happy for him. Do you think it would be more fair for you to have a lifetime subscription? That sounds a little bit selfish. So congratulations to the Icelandic guy.

Love this pic. Sounds a lot like me actually. Photography fanatic in high school. 25 years, 4 kids, 2 careers later I am back to my first love and Picnik just making it easier and more fun. I don’t tell people my secret though, I like having the upper hand in special effects.

in fairness to the rest of us who enjoy photography and appreciate other’s talents as well, if you do not have positive criticism then keep to yourself and don’t ruin the moment for the rest of us. I mean we’re talking about a few bucks a year to use the program???

Complaining about this is like complaining about not winning the lottery after playing for 20 years when someone else won after playing for 15; completely pointless. He won the jackpot and you won nothing. Wah wah wah.

Kudos to the winner! This person reminds me of myself also. I did photography when I was a teen, then grew up, got married had kids, and got back into it again a few years ago. It should show others that don’t give up on something you love to do. Oh, and I am new to this site, and I am so glad I found it. Frankly, I think $25 bucks a year is way better than buying editing software, although I do still have Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 Ultimate (just do some editing).

That’s awesome! A billion photos, amazing. Couldn’t happen to a better company. I use Picnik about 4 times a day on average, sometimes more, for multiple edits. For personal photos and also resizing for copywork. I love it.
I tell everyone I know about it, because it is just so easy to use.

A great shot! I use picnik allthe time. It si a great real estate tool. It can really brand your listings. People do notice over time.

Ok, like congratulations to this dude, but I agree with lilaleahg. I LOVE photography and Im 12 years Old. If you could see how much I love to edit pictures you’d probably be amazed! Im not here to brag about how great my edits are but, a lifetime subscription? thats silly. there are millions of picnik users that joined picnik waaaay before this guy did. ive been on picnik for 3 years now. And I want to get into photography when Im older. and i would be able to say ive began photography since i was 12 YEARS OLD instead of 19 ¬_¬

OMG WOW haha a lifetime sub?!??!?! i so wish i had edited the billionth picture! maybe i’ll get the trillionth LOL
although maybe the lifetime sub was a little unfair…they should keep track of Premium Picnickers frequency and time and then give away lifetimes! Like if you have continuously Picniked for 5 years, you deserve AT LEAST one free year! that would be sweet but anyway cool to the guy…and good luck to me next time this prize is given out :p :) :)

I’m sorry but…being upset that he’s gotten a lifetime subscription??? Let’s be serious people, be HAPPY for the guy!!! Life is unfair…deal with it, realize it, and get over it.. Consider every blessing a BLESSING whether for yourself, or others!!! I say CONGRATULATIONS to the winner!!! GO wild buddy! I have photoshop too, and man, Picnik is much quicker and user friendly, it’s usually only for CERTAIN red-eyes I’ll use photoshop over Picnik, or some specific, advanced stuff. Anyways…People…let’s seriously ENJOY when good things happen to good people, even if nothing happened in your favor… Good is good no matter who it happens to.
