Picnik Now In Yahoo! Mail

posted by virginia Jun 5th, 2009

Today Yahoo! has launched a whole new set of applications inside Yahoo! Mail, and Picnik is launching right there with them!

That’s right, the internet’s most gigantor webmail provider is now offering Picnik as the photo editor for their users! And without having to go digging in an application directory, either, but right there in the applications menu at the left.

Similar to our integrations with Facebook and Flickr, having Picnik inside your email brings Picnik’s photo editing awesomeness to where so many of your photos are kept anyway: in your inbox! Just click on “Edit Photos” next to the Picnik icon and hit connect, and Picnik automatically grabs all the images attachments in your Yahoo! Mail. Can’t find something? You can also Get From Computer, a Website, a Yahoo! Search, a Webcam shot, the list goes on. Then edit, add Effects, Stickers, Text, and Touch-Ups to your heart’s content, and when you’re done, Save to your Computer, Flickr, Print, other third party storage sites, and, of course, email!

Thanks a lot for this integration but how could i use my existing premium picnik account in yahoo mail instead of create a new account ?

I added the app to Yahoo Mail and it works well and links fine to my Yahoo Mail and other accounts I have. The one problem I’ve found is that it creates a Picnik account when the application is first run and there’s no way to modify/delete or change that account. There’s also no way to tell the application to use an existing account instead.

When I open the app, it automatically logs me into to some kind of account (where my name on the history tab and the email on the account tab both display as “>>>>>”). I can log out of that account and log into a different one, but if I close the app tab and open it again, it logs me back into the “>>>>>” account.

Also there’s no way to change the username or email address since in order to do so, I need to enter my old password. I don’t know what that is since the account was created by the application.

Once that problem is fixed, this application will be perfect.

Pierro, You can sign in to an existing Picnik account by clicking “Get a Picnik Account” and choosing “Sign in” in there. We’re changing this UI right now to make this easier for folks like you. The fix for this should be out in the next couple days.

Michael, Your question is somewhat related, but the important thing here is that we’ve fixed the Delete Account bug you reported. Now when you delete an account, you will be able to log in with a brand new account after.

Thank you both for your reports! – Charlie, Picnik.com

Melisa, I clicked on “Yahoo! has launched,” at the top of this page. On the page that opened, I clicked http://overview.mail.yahoo.com/applications. Then, on the next page that opened, under “Get Apps For Yahoo! Mail,” I entered my yahoo email addy. The message that followed was: “THANKS! We’ve added you to a list of interested users and will notify you when the tools are ready.” So we’ll see. You were probably looking for apps on your Yahoo Mail page, which makes sense. I just checked my mail page, and “Apps” is added to my left menu. Under it is: Edit Photos, My Photos, Paypal, and Share It. I guess the tools were ready!
