Help Make Picnik Even More Awesome!
Hi! I’m Lisa and I’m the newest member of the Picnik team. Part of being new is learning, learning, oh and then some more learning. So I would like your help with my learning curve!
I know what I would love to see us do next but I want to know what you all think. I want to better understand how and why you visit Picnik. What you love and what you would love for us to do. So I (together with some of the magic-makers here at Picnik) have pulled together a quick survey! Everything is confidential but your answers will help guide what we should work on next.
So thanks ahead of time for helping make Picnik even better (and for helping me learn)!
Take the Picnik Survey! And Happy Picnicking!
Monday, March 16 Update: After a week of incredibly overwhelming response, we’re closing the survey and letting ourselves catch up with all your responses and tens of thousands of comments! We’ve already gone through half of them, and we’re going to to read every single one of them! Thank you all again for being so generous with your time, and in such numbers. And now that we know what you all think, we can’t wait to decide what we’re going to do next!

Faves are Orton-ish, Vignette, the neturalizer, and collage. Frames are good, too. If I had a wish, it would be for a grunge frame and some flourishes… like scrapbooks…. curly, grungie, swirley things. But, I’m new to Picnik and maybe I just need to work on my nik skills.
I’d like to toot Brenda Anderson’s horn… she’s brilliant and very helpful…
Thanks to all the Picnik crew…. FTL, jenny (PHS Panthers & therealpinkfloyd)

I agree with Jenny. I’d love to see more flourishes and elements that can be used in scrapbooks. And some vintage-look elements would be great too.
Thanks!

I am supposed to be able to do LAYERING in Picnik, but I can’t find a link on HOW to do it. It would be nice to have tutorials on HOW to do a lot of the editing that is available. Maybe I’m just not looking in the right place?
March 12th, 2009 at 4:43 pm
I agree with Tracey.
I would also like to a see tutorial for layering.
I love Picnik!!

how come I can’t use picnik? it says “Picnik uses a secure connection (SSL) to keep your secrets secret. We’re having a problem creating a secure connection from your machine to ours.” I followed the steps but nothing happened, I still can’t use it. help!
March 12th, 2009 at 8:21 pm
@Sathha We were having an SSL problem but everything is good now! Sorry for the problem.
@Jenny Thanks for the shout out to Brenda – We think she is brilliant too!!
@ everyone Thanks for the feedback and ideas. We will roll them into the feedback we received from the survey. All of these ideas will help us determine “What’s next” at Picnik.
In the meantime, for those looking for more tutorials the forums may be helpful or for an awesome video on layering by the previously mentioned Brilliant Brenda check-out:

Picnik has some great features and first class at being intuitive to use, but there are fatal flaws which I am afraid will stop me renewing my PRO membership.
1) The inability to deal with RAW files, I have to translate them into JPG in another package then upload them in Picnik
2) The size limitation of files – not large enough.
3) The lack of perspective correction tool.
4) The time taken to load / download photos. Flash 10 has simply switched the time wasted from the start to the end of the process and I often have to wait 3-4 minutes before I can save. Plus the frequent “Whoops! Your photo failed to load” message is really irritating.
So sorry, I have just a few weeks left on my membership, but that is it.

I must say, that this site is the best editor I have ever used. I’m the owner of Hope Photography and I believe that this site would be even better if, we as the editors could change the color of back grounds or add backdrops to our photos.

@Stagedoor, thanks for your comments and for being a great customer. This is good information for us to have and some of it we can directly act on. Answers to your questions:
1 – RAW is a pretty complex issue as the format can vary between camera brand, even camera model. The file sizes are so huge as well, would be a big performance challenge.
2 – Resolution is now 16mp (4000×4000 for example), up from 2800×2800. You may be saying you’re looking for even larger, or is your concern the 16mb file size maximum?
3 – We have a perspective correction tool on our request list, another vote for you. Thank you.
4 – I’m sorry the much improved Flash10 direct upload and save are not helping your situation. There really is nothing going over the wire in this newer scanario, so you have eliminated the communications piece. We do still have to reconstruct the file, which can take some time if they are large.
If you have further thoughts or want to talk through these questions, please send mail to feedback@picnik.com, put my name in the Subject line.
Thank you – Charlie, Picnik.com

I agree with some of the others. I would like to see some tutorials about layering.
March 16th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
It would be cool if we could do Panoramic views(stitching multiple pictures together).
I also agree with Crystal about layering tutorials.
Thank you, I love Picnik

i saw the layering video and then i went back 2 picnik but there was no layering tool at the bottom or is it only premium?

I really use a lot of photo editing programs, i even have the illustrator… but it’s so much easier und funnier with picnik.
I really use it every day and I never get bored :P ..
Also the tool for Picasa is amazing !!
But it would be great if you could maximize or minimize the brush for the function “gooify”
And it would be also cool if you could edit more pictures at the same time.
Thank you picnik teeam !!!
(Sorry if my English was bad ..I’m German)

I really really want to be able to crop and print a standard panoramic size. You have 5×7 and 8×10. How tough could it be to create a 4×12 option?
Use whatever the standard photo frames are. Walmart sells a panoramic sized frame.

Recommend talking with Nokia to add this site as a widget to new touchscreen devices for S60 5th edition OS. Would be cool to modify any pics taken from your N-Series or E-Series device from the handset then link to Picnik using the “touch” widget from your home screen or via Facebook…etc….

Love more handwritten fronts and some flourishes.
How about those cute frames that are like a line drawn with a pen round the picture. I see a lot of blogs with that look and it’s really classy and simple..

oh and to add to the comment i just made, you should have something that has piercings so you can pick the kind of piercing you want and then put it where you want on a person in the picture
