Flickr Picnikers Group contest winner… Found in the Attic! / Aug 27th

What an amazing response to this month’s Flickr Picnikers group contest “Found in the Attic”. We asked you to create images that looked like you dug them out of your old dusty shoeboxes or cedar chests or black-papered photo albums and your creativity shone through.

Congratulations to meghuff for her winning entry “Vintage Bowl.” Meg wins a 1-year Premium subscription! Kudos to our 2 runners up, Train Up A Child by maryjo93natural and Train in Carrboro, NC by birdyboo, both winners of a 3-month Picnik Premium subscription!

1st Place - Before 1st Place - After

2nd Place 3rd Place

Congratulations and well done to everyone who entered. Thanks for getting dusty with us! Next month’s contest will be starting soon, so keep an eye on the Picnikers group!

Collage!?! You asked for it! :) / Aug 22nd

After dozens (hundreds?) of requests, months (truly) of work, hours of (debate) discussion, and enough prototype & sample collages to finally finish the exterior of the Bird’s Nest.  We’re very proud of it, and somehow we still believe there’s so much more to do for it!

Collage and photo layers are available to Premium folks as their very special preview for a limited time - which is another great benefit of subscribing!  Not to worry, non-subscribers… cool elements of Collage and Layering will be available soon for you as well.

You’ll see a few samples coming up out there… but we suspect you’ll find your way into some very cool creations of your own!  Please let us know via the Feedback button inside Picnik if you’d like to see other elements added… or what you think could work so much better!

The Team brought to you by Picnik Collage*!  Dude… I just realized we need a Brady Bunch effect.

Featured Picniker - Andrea Walisser / Aug 8th

Andrea WalisserOur fifth Featured Picniker, Andrea Walisser, is a redhead. But she’s worthy of being featured in other ways as well. We first noticed her when she submitted three entries to the Flickr Picnikers contest on Best Use of Text. Intrigued, we poked around in the rest of her photo stream, which was handily divided into Picnik Originals and Picnik!. And there we found picture upon picture of Andrea and her lovely girlfriends, using every Picnik effect imaginable (and a fair bit of text, too!), dressed to the nines and out on the town in Vancouver.

Without needing anymore convincing, when we contacted Andrea we discovered that she’s just weeks away from traveling to Northern Ireland to work on her senior undergrad thesis towards her History Honors degree at Simon Fraser University. She also tidily took our emailed list of questions and put them in a tidy Word Doc for us. Honours student, indeed!

Featured Feedback - Super Kudos Edition / Aug 7th

Another dose of the warm fuzzies via Kristi and Ali, our Picnik Community Therapists, from some of our users…

Ansonsten - gute Seite!

PICNIK EDITING CONTESTSo attention all Facebooking Picnikers! Join this group! But as of this week’s theme “Sunsets and Nice Scenery Summer Photos”, all the first prize winners get free three-month Picnik Premium subscriptions!

Small print: it’s just for fun (and prizes!) and Trish and her friends are doing this on their own so any technical questions should be directed towards Team Picnik Members via the Feedback Button inside Picnik.

Flickr Picnikers Group: Lost in the Attic / Aug 5th

Brenda, our Community Liaison in Charge of Flickr Operations and Antipodean Branch Office Manager, has announced this months Flickr Picniker Award Theme and this month is: “Found in the Attic“!

It’s just four days in and already we’re amazed at how long our users have been using Picnik. We didn’t think we were even around that long…

She’s also got weekly homework assignments, games, and over 2000 members! We’re thrilled to see such how much fun everyone’s having and would like to encourage everyone to join the Flickr Picnikers group. Besides, there’s prizes!

All The Pretty Horses Are Now Even Prettier / Aug 1st

We got a great email today from the creators of EquiPortal (”Your Window On The Equine World“).  They were looking for a way to make it easier for their members to upload their photos, and found Picnik to be the perfect solution:

I have recently taken my first Picnik / Amazon S3 project live and just wanted to provide some feedback. I run a small company with limited resources so finding a feature rich product that was easy to integrate was a great find. I have created a blog about my integration exercise if you are interested: http://blog.contrastwebsolutions.co.uk/2008/08/using-picnik-and-amazon-s3-for-photo.html

If you would like a testimonial from the perspective of a small company feel free to take any text from my blog such as: “Picnik is a cool product, but it’s the way that it can be easily integrated in to our own websites that makes it great.”

Thanks for the service.
