Featured Picniker – Vinci Galang
Our second Featured Picniker is Vinci Galang, a 24-year-old Filipino living in Makati, one of the cities making up the greater metropolitan area of Manila. He graduated with a degree in computer science, likes video games, anime, art, rock music and Star Wars, and lists his tools of the trade as “Crap Literature and Boring Photography plus Picnik Editing.” His Flickr photostream and Deviant Art gallery are full of portraits which demonstrate a sutble and artful use of Picnik that goes beyond simple photo editing. A perfect candidate, therefore, for our second-ever Featured Picniker!
Picnik: How did you first hear about Picnik, and when was that?
Vinci: When I heard and have read that Flickr have partnered with Picnik to give them an editing function. I have been editing since then!
How has Picnik changed your life?
Oh, I donʼt have Photoshop and I donʼt really have the time to learn it. I used Picnik and fell in love with it the first time. I love portraiture, and Picnik just brings life to all my pictures as my primary editing tool.
What did you like the most about Picnik when you first started using it, and what do you like the most about it now?
Picnik is so ISHy (easy)! I loved how a single click can create great effects. My favorite effect would be Orton-ish!

Lost!
If any feature of Picnik were to be renamed after you, which would it be?
Orton-ish! I love glowing pics! But I love how HDR-ish and Orton-ish combo each other, maybe you should need to name that Vinci-ish! :D

What’s one new feature you wish Picnik could have?
I would love Vintage textures, scratches and tears or newspaper like effect in the photos.. but maybe simple Noise reduction would be nice.
How’d you get interested in photography and art?
I got interested in cosplay pictures, then I stumbled across Alodia Gosiengfiao, the most popular cosplayer in our country, and after a few more research and stalking XD, I found out that Alodiaʼs pictures were taken by Tricia Gosingtian, a very awesome girl. Since then, I got interested in photography and never stopped shooting.
Best city for photographing?
I think Tokyo would be the best, but I havenʼt been there yet!
If Picnik was an anime archetype, who would it be?
The guy that all the girls fall in love with! Ahahaha!

I totally agree on the noise reduction point. I do concert photography and if Picnik had a good noise reduction function I’d use it almost exponentially more.
