The Premium labeled features will still be available to try indefinitely but you won't be able to Apply them permanently. We think this is better than a 1 week trial because our subscription is to a "Premium Feature Stream" where we are always coming out with great new features. If we had a limited trial you'd be unable to try the cool new stuff we deliver a couple months down the road after the trial expired.

Having a Picnik Premium preview across the board is good for this launch phase, when you have existing users who you want to have trying Premium features. But what about new users in the future? Will you change the wording to say something like "when you register for Picnik, we'll let you try out Premium for a week, after which you can continue for $24.95/year, or revert to the basic service"?
